Early Life: Family and Friends

Westbrook is the eldest son of Russell Westbrook Jr. and Shannon Horton.

He was born on November 12, 1988, in Long Beach, California. His father was also a former basketball player but was never seen at a professional level.

Westbrook has a younger brother named Raynard Westbrook, and he played college-level football at the University of Central Oklahoma.

Since high school, Russell has started playing basketball.

With his statistics, head coach Ben Howland of UCLA Bruins provided Westbrook with a scholarship.

In 2016, Russell became the MVP for the second time and signed three years contract extension with Thunders.
