Duke started bowling at the young age of eight, and he used to practice in his parent’s bowling center.

He used to do it as a hobby and fun, but it all changed when he was 10 years old. He defeated a touring pro when he was just 10.

At that moment, he realized that he could pursue a career in bowling.

Duke then started practicing vigorously and sometimes would not stop until his mother forced him to. His mom would find blood on his thumb due to over-practicing.

Moving on to his educational background, there is no information about where he studied.

Norm Duke: Career

Norm chased his dream and became a professional bowler at the age of 18.

In the same year, even though he had just started his professional career, he went on to win the Cleaveland opens and shock everyone watching the match.

With his win, he became the youngest bowler in the history of the PBA ever to win a PBA tour title.

This win was not easy. He was seeded at number 5, and he had to win his way up to the championship. He defeated four other bowlers.

Duke was facing the legendary bowler Earl Anthony, who bagged 43 titles throughout his career in the finals.

Norm Defeated Earn Anthony and claimed the title.

After this win, he did not win another title until 1991.

But the second title win was a great breakthrough to his career. He won straight two more titles 1993 season.

One of them was the ABC masters, now known as the USBC Masters. This was his first major Championship.

The Best Season

Norm continued his great form and played the 1994 season to his fullest extent. It is also assumed that this is the best year of his career.

He won five consecutive titles that year, and among those wins, he bagged his second major win.

Due to his excellent performance, he was awarded the PBA Player of the Year.

He was starting to perform well, and he was getting recognized as one of the most versatile players in bowling.

People assumed that he was just a stroker, but that’s where they were wrong. They assumed that he could only throw straights or hook shots.

But oh boy, they were wrong. He was extremely good at swinging balls from near the gutter and brought them back on the lane like the cranker technique.

This caught his opponents off guard, and he would win, showing off his skills, especially in the PBA multiple oil patterns lanes.

In his 1995 season, he won two titles after competing and winning in the Portland and Cleaveland tour.

Unfortunately, he passed 1996 without winning any trophy, but when the 1997 season started, he was ready to bag some titles.
