Who Is Ayman al-Zawahiri Wife, Azza Ahmed? Al-Qaeda Leader Killed In US Drone Strike

Chief of al-Qaeda, Ayman al-Zawahiri, was a physician and theologian who succeeded Osama bin Laden due to the Azza Ahmed Nowari.

Azza Ahmed Nowari was the first partner among the two known partners. She had studied philosophy at Cairo University. They tied the knots in 1978 at the Continental Hotel in Opera Square.

Also, they had a traditional wedding ceremony. Besides that, there was a separate space for every male and female. There was no music, photos, or pleasure at the marriage ceremony.

Azza Ahmed had six children: Mohammed, Khadiga’s twin, Fatima (1981), Umayma (1983), Nabila (1986), and Khadiga (1987),

After ten years after his firstborn Mohammed, Azza gave birth to their daughter Aisha, who has Down syndrome.

In late December 2001, the U.S. carried out airstrikes on Afghanistan. Azza, Ayman al-first Zawahiri’s wife, and two of their six children, Mohammad and Aisha, were killed in that airstrike. 

When an American aircraft missile struck a Taliban-controlled structure in Gardez, Azza was beneath the rubble of a guesthouse roof in that incident. Even so, she “refused to be dug” because she believed it was inappropriate to show her face to men. On the very next day, she died from her wounds.

Mohammad was killed in the same house.

During that event, Afghan volunteers tried to save four-year-old daughter Aisha. She no longer remained because of the exposure.

Ayman Al-Zawahiri Parents

 Ayman AI-Zawahiri came into the world, in the Giza district of Cairo, Egypt, in 1951, from Mohammed Rabie al-Zawahiri and Umayma Azzam. 

He is from a “well-off and eminent family that provides him a secure background in both religion and politics,” according to the New York Times.

 The family is from the Harbi tribe in Saudi Arabia.

His parents were wealthy and well-educated. His dad was a physician. Al-parents Zawahiri’s grandfathers were Sheikh Muhammad al-Ahmadi al-Zawahiri, the 34th Grand Imam of al-Azhar.

Also, his mother came from a politically engaged family, daughter of Abdel-Wahhab Azzam, a literary scholar who held the positions of president of Cairo University, founder and first rector of King Saud University, and ambassador to Pakistan.

His brother, Azzam Pasha, served as the first secretary-general of the Arab League (1945–1952).

Collaborator of Bin Laden

Al-Zawahiri planned the deadliest terror attack on America that is when plane hijackers managed to turn out airliner into missiles.

Also, when he was a young doctor, he had already been involved in a crime for trying to overthrow the Egyptian government.

After that, he said he was tortured while in detention during his prison time. When he went to Pakistan, that was when he met bin Laden and found a common cause.

“We are working with brother bin Laden,” he said in declaring the merger of his group, Egyptian Islamic Jihad, with al Qaeda in May 1998. 

Mastermind of 9/11

In retaliation in Afghanistan, Zawahiri and bin Laden relished after they escaped a U.S. cruise missile. U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were attacked with suicide bombings killing 200 people. Later the attacks against the U.S. and its provisions.

Al-Qaeda Leader Killed In US Drone Strike

 On July 31, 2022, the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency conducted an early-morning drone strike shortly after 6:00 AM local time (9:00 PM Eastern Time). The CIA drone strike in Afghanistan took down Al-Qaeda leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri. 

The official CIA source said there was no civilian casualty because they cleared the house. The leader was down when he was on the balcony. 

Ex-president Barack Obama also commented on this episode, saying this amount of work is needed to safeguard innocent lives all around the globe.
