Chief of al-Qaeda, Ayman al-Zawahiri, was a physician and theologian who succeeded Osama bin Laden due to the Azza Ahmed Nowari.
Azza Ahmed Nowari was the first partner among the two known partners. She had studied philosophy at Cairo University. They tied the knots in 1978 at the Continental Hotel in Opera Square.
Also, they had a traditional wedding ceremony. Besides that, there was a separate space for every male and female. There was no music, photos, or pleasure at the marriage ceremony.
Children from Azza Ahmed Nowari
Azza Ahmed had six children: Mohammed, Khadiga’s twin, Fatima (1981), Umayma (1983), Nabila (1986), and Khadiga (1987),
After ten years after his firstborn Mohammed, Azza gave birth to their daughter Aisha, who has Down syndrome.
In late December 2001, the U.S. carried out airstrikes on Afghanistan. Azza, Ayman al-first Zawahiri’s wife, and two of their six children, Mohammad and Aisha, were killed in that airstrike.
When an American aircraft missile struck a Taliban-controlled structure in Gardez, Azza was beneath the rubble of a guesthouse roof in that incident. Even so, she “refused to be dug” because she believed it was inappropriate to show her face to men. On the very next day, she died from her wounds.
Mohammad was killed in the same house.
During that event, Afghan volunteers tried to save four-year-old daughter Aisha. She no longer remained because of the exposure.
