Young Dolph, the Memphis rapper sadly passed away due to an unexpected turn of events when he was shot in the presence of his brother.

Adolph Robert Thornton Jr. was an American rapper who gained significant attention for his appearance as a guest on O.T. Genasis’s 2015 single, “Cut It.”

Marcus Thornton, the rapper’s brother, has been a key figure in the case surrounding Young Dolph’s tragic d*ath, especially during the trials of the suspects. 

Moreover, Thornton’s brother was present when the incident happened and reportedly fired back at the attackers, injuring one named Smith.


In court, it was shown that Marcus acted in self-defense while trying to protect his brother. Other than this, not much is known about his personal or work life. 

Furthermore, the culprit, Smith, testified that he was hit in the arm and leg by Marcus as he tried to get away from the shooting at the cookie store. 

Besides Marcus, the singer has two sisters and another brother with whom he might have a few years of age gap; nonetheless, he never revealed any information related to them.

The late singer Young Dolph was raised by his grandmother, Ida Mae. When he was two, his family moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where his grandma lived.

Moreover, his parents were never there to raise him while he was growing up because of their addiction to drugs. He would see them occasionally.

Furthermore, he was from the South Memphis community. The area has a significant African American community. 

The American rapper cherished and respected his grandmother more than anything else. She was the only person he truly cared about, unfortunately, she lost her life due to lung cancer in 2008.
