Junior Career
In the fall of 2001, Jacobs entered the Regal Capital Curling Classic men’s bonspiel.
The competitors included a team skipped by his uncle Al Harnden and Patrick Hurlimann, 1998 Olympic curling champion, whom they beat by 5-3.
In 2005, Jacobs won the Northern Ontario Junior Men’s Championship with teammates Brady Barnett, Scott Seabrook, and Steve Molodowich.

Later in 2008, he formed his own team with his cousins (sons of Eric Harnden) E.J. Harnden, Ryan Harnden, and Caleb Flaxey.
His team won the Northern Ontario provincial title in 2010 and qualified for the 2010 Tim Hortons Brier.
They reached the tournament’s playoffs, becoming the first team from Northern Ontario to do so since 1993.
