Cillian Murphy Cancer Rumours After Seen Him Smoking In Peaky Blinders, Health Update
Peaky Blinders viewers are often concerned about the health of Cillian Murphy, given the amount of smoking he has done on screen. Thankfully, Cillian only smoked fake herbal cigarettes, and his Cancer rumors are false.
Irish actor Cillian Murphy is best known for playing the lead character Thomas “Tommy” Shelby in the BBC period crime drama series Peaky Blinders.
His other major works include 28 Days Later, Inception, Sunshine, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Red Eye, and A Quiet Place II.
Cillian was initially the lead singer and guitarist of the rock band The Sons of Mr. Green Genes but transitioned to his acting career on stage and in films.

Cillian Murphy Cancer Rumours Are False: He Is Fine & Healthy
Despite the rumors, Cillian Murphy does not have Cancer. There are no official reports of the same. The Irish actor is leading a fit and healthy life.
Speculations about his illness have always been around since his Peaky Binders character, Tommy Shelby, is a heavy smoker. However, Cillian is a non-smoker in real life.
When filming, he smokes herbal cigarettes instead of real, nicotine cigarettes which look real on screen but do not harm his health. In an interview, Cillian estimated he had smoked over 3000 herbal cigarettes for his role.
Just how much Thomas and his Birmingham gang smoke is an iconic yet highly unhealthy part of the British period crime drama. Someone is lighting a cigarette in almost every scene.
It is because the show is set in the early 1900s, before people fully understood the real hazards of cigarettes. It was later in the 1960s that the U.S. Surgeon General declared that smoking causes Cancer. The frequent smoking is shown to make the show more realistic and accurate.
Not only was smoking common, but it was seen as glamorous. Peaky Blinders perfectly pictures that, with well-dressed men and elegant ladies lighting up now and then.
For Thomas Shelby and his brothers returning from the first world war, the habit could also have been a coping mechanism against post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), negative moods, and daily stress.
Although Cillian is healthy in real life, his character has PTSD after returning from the war. He was also diagnosed with terminal tuberculoma earlier in Season 6. Doctor Holford (Aneurin Barnard) informs him of his illness and says that he has, at best, a year and a half to live. It makes him certain that his death is imminent.
