High school

He studied at Mater Dei High School in California. Colt led his team to the league championship as a sophomore, and as a senior, he played County All-star Game.

In a sophomore, he was the backup quarterback for Matt Leinhart, who is now in Arizona Cardinals.

Colt Brennan always had the talent to get to NFL. However, he learned the hard way that nothing comes easy.

After graduation, he went on to Worcester Academy in Massachusetts for a post-graduate year. His football got him three offer letters, and basketball got him one letter.

College

In 2002,  the University of Colorado accepted Colton a scholarship where he was red-shirted. After a night out of drinking with friends, he allegedly sexually assaulted a girl in her dorm room.

As a result, Brennan was sent to jail and put on probation until his graduation. He even got expelled from the university and was forced to return home. It seemed that his career ended before it even began.

Brennan then transferred to Saddleback Community college, where he got one offer letter. He would lead them in a conference championship with 2400 yards and 24 touchdowns.

He had repaired his image enough to get more scholarship offers from Syracuse and San Jose State. Syracuse cancels the offer due to a felony on his record. And he turned down San Jose State when he met with coach June Jones.

University of Hawaii

After an honorable mention in the JUCO All-America, state offensive player of the year by the JuCal Transfer, he got an offer letter from the University of Hawaii.

Since he wanted to create some distance with his past problems and start afresh, he decided to follow coach June Jones at the University of Hawaii.

In 2005, Colt joined the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors and played 10 games for them. The only games he did not participate in were against USC and San Diego State. He broke eleven school offensive records in his time.

He had career-high passing numbers with 515 yards, 7 touchdowns, and 38 pass completion against New Mexico State University.

Similarly, his total offense years were 4455 and 35 touchdowns. In the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), passing 4301 yards, he has the eighth highest record.

Consecutive years

In 2006, Brennan became  WAC’s preseason Offensive Player of the year. He passed 53 touchdowns which were just one touchdown less than the NCAA Division I single-season record.

In this season, he passed 5549 yards and had 58 touchdowns; these were school records and the nation’s highest passer efficiency.

On November 23 of 2007, he threw a college record-breaking five touchdowns against Boise State.

Hawaii Rainbow Warriors finished the season with a 35-28 beating the Washington Huskies. This ranked their way to No.10 and led their way into the Sugar Bowl.

At the Sugar Bowl, Hawaii got defeated by Georgia by 41-10. Colt finished the season with 38 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. He was chosen for the Heimans Finalist for the second year in a row, and he came in third place.

After the Sugar Bowl, coach June Jones left the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors, and Colt was grateful for all Jones had done for him and for giving him a chance he really needed.

Colt Brennan: Professional Career

Washington Redskins

The Washington Redskins drafted Colt Brennan in the 2008 NFL draft. He signed a $1.8 million contract with them for four years on July 14.

Ironically, he debuted against Indianapolis Colts on August 3rd. Colt completed two touchdowns and 123 yards resulting in the Redskins win.

After that, he played against the New York Jets, scored the winning touchdown, and had 79 yards by the end of the game. Colt finished the 2008 season with 411 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions.

Unfortunately, in the 2009 season, Colt got injured. He needed surgery after he tore his hamstring and had a hip injury.  Brennan was placed on the Injure Reserve and could not play that season.

Redskins got John Beck from Baltimore Ravens to replace Colt Brennan and released him from the contract.

Oakland Raiders

On 7th August 2010, Colt signed the Oakland Raiders, but due to some reason, Colt got dropped on September 4th.

Hartford Colonials

For the 2011 seasons, the Hartford Colonials signed Colt Brennan on June 3rd. On August 10, 2011, the league suspended the Colonials operations.

Brennan got rejected from the team after its dispersal on August 15 of the same year.

Saskatchewan Roughriders

On 28 February 2012, Colt signed the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League, but soon as they got J.T. Sullivan, Colt became expendable. He was released on 11th June of the same year.

Los Angeles Kiss

Colt got signed by the Los Angeles Kiss of the Arena Football League on the 29th of October of 2013.

Afterward, he got released from the Los Angeles Kiss in the next year due to a brain injury from a car accident back in 2010.

Colt’s experience with the Los Angeles Kiss became the subject for the first episode on the reality TV show 4th and Loud.

Colt Brennan: Controversy

Colt was accused of entering into a girl’s dorm room uninvited at the Colorado University on January 28. He was arrested and convicted for charges of felony and burglary.

However, the charges of him flashing himself at the girl were dismissed because of lack of evidence. He was jailed for a week and had probation.

On July 25th, 2012, he was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and was also under the suspicion for third-degree promotion of drugs. Colt had a blood-alcohol level of 0.17 percent.

He was charged for drunk driving but not for the cocaine residue found on his car. Colt plead guilty and paid a $300 fine.

Colt once filed a false report to the police that his vehicle was stolen in 2015, but later the charges were dropped against him.

On December 10, 2019, he was once again arrested for driving under the influence.

On August 1st, 2020, he has arrested for trespassing and refusing to leave a hotel in Kailua-Kona while heavily intoxicated.

Colt got charged with second-degree trespassing charges, and the bail was set at $250, but he remained in jail before his hearing on Monday. He had a court date for next month in September.
