“I was coming from a law enforcement conference where we were talking about gun violence, making our neighborhood safer,” Patterson stated in response to phone calls about the violence. “I was immediately taken aback, horrified by what occurred,” she continued.

James Roger Thompson was a 16-year-old kid who became the victim of mass murder. Meanwhile, Gabriel Torres was an off-duty Police officer on his way to work. He was 29 years old.
Police chief Estella Patterson announced the names of the deceased during a press conference on Friday morning: James Roger Thompson, 16; Nicole Conners, 52; Mary Marshall, 34; Susan Karnatz, 49, and officer Gabriel Torres, 29, of the Raleigh Police Department.
One woman remains hospitalized and is in critical condition. Senior officer Casey Joseph Clark, 33, was admitted to the hospital with a wound but was released subsequently.
According to Raleigh Police Chief Stella Patterson, the shooting started in the streets of a subdivision in Hedingham, a community northeast of downtown bounded by a golf field and the Neuse River Greenway.
The shooter then ran away into the greenway, where, according to Patterson, he continued to shoot more people at a more than two-mile-long crime scene.

Who Is The Suspect Of The Raleigh Shooting?
A 15-year-old boy is suspected of having carried out the mass shooting in Raleigh. After a protracted confrontation, the suspect—whose identity was not made public—was taken into custody, according to Police.
In response to queries from reporters, Patterson declined to comment on the type of weapon used or the suspect’s acquisition method.
She also refused to clarify whether the suspect might be related to the victims. She said, “This investigation is still going on.
However, it was later reported that the 15-year-old shooter is named Austin Thompson. Austin is also said to be the younger brother of one of the victims, James Roger Thompson.
Five people, including a Police officer, were murdered in the mass shooting in Raleigh, North Carolina, and the shooter, 15, is currently in serious condition, according to officials.
