Jayson Tatum was born to his father, Justin Tatum, and his mother, Brandy Cole, in St. Louis, Missouri. Both of his parents were nineteen at the time of his birth in 1998.

Senior Tatum had graduated from St. Louis a year before the birth of his basketball player. Jayson’s father played basketball at Saint Louis University.

Currently, he is a gym teacher and basketball coach at Christina Brothers College High School in St. Louis. Previously, he was the coach and athletics director at Soldan International Studies Higher School for six years.
