In addition, she has done several types of lifts like snatch, front squat, back squat, clean & jerk. She is coached by Ma Wenhui and is a part of the Shandong Provincial Weightlifting Team.

Chunhong debuted professionally as a weightlifter in the 2002 Asian Games in the 69 kg category. There, she managed to win a gold medal.

According to news outlets, she tested positive for consuming GHRP-2 peptide.

Chunhong violated the rules and caught herself in a doping incident. Therefore, she got disqualified.

Along with Chunhong, the other two Chinese gold medalists Chen Xiexia and Cao Lei, were also disqualified.
