Controversy Over Co-Anchor
Mark Mester, the weekend morning news anchor at Nexstar-owned KTLA-TV in Los Angeles, has been suspended.
Mester was suspended less than a week after his co-anchor Lynette Romero abruptly informed the station that she would be leaving.
With “some news that we’ve just been handed here that we wanted to share with you first,” the station’s veteran entertainment expert Sam Rubin went on air on Wednesday.
Romero “decided to move on after nearly 24 years at KTLA,” according to Rubin’s statement.
The management “tried hard,” he continued, to persuade her to stay, but she decided to leave.
Romero’s desire to leave appears to be uncontested by all parties, including Romero herself, although her abrupt departure was mourned on Twitter by followers and station loyalists. They weren’t the only ones who experienced disappointment.
