Mehdi’s parents migrated to the UK from Hyderabad, India. His father, Raza Hasan, was an engineer. There isn’t much information available about his mother.

Mehdi first started as a researcher and a producer for the London Weekend TV Jonathan Dimbleby program. He then subsequently got appointed to BBC 1’s The Politics.

He would later become the deputy executive producer of the popular Sky’s Breakfast Show, ‘Sunrise.’

Mehdi also worked as an Editor of News and Current Affairs at the public free-to-air TV in the UK.
