Ryuju Nagayama was born on April 15, 1996, in Japan. However, his parents’ names are not known. 

In addition to that, the names of his siblings and the number of siblings are also not known, if he has any.

In an interview conducted by International Judo Federation (IJF) about how he started his love affair with judo, he mentioned his friend in the neighborhood once invited him to play judo.

Then, he started playing judo with his friend and started to love it.

Talking about his education, he attended a private school and completed his elementary, middle, and high school.

But, Ryuju mentions in an article by Archysport that he had always dreamt of competing in the All Japan Championship or Tokyo Kodokan since his elementary school years.

After that, Ryuju was also the winner of the Grand Slam Tokyo 2016 and the Ekaterinburg Grand Slam 2017.

However, he became the second winner of the Grand Slam Baku 2016, but he couldn’t grab any position in the Paris Grand Slam 2017 and the World Senior Championship Budapest 2017.

The Judoka is also the winner of the Budapest Grand Prix 2018, the Dusseldorf Grand Slam 2018, and the Masters’ St Petersburg 2017.

Unfortunately, he could only secure the third position in the World Senior Championships Senior Baku 2018 and the World Championships Senior 2019.

But, the athlete rose into his highest proximity by winning the Osaka Grand Slam 2018 and the Düsseldorf Grand Slam 2019. 

Ryuju Nagyama also secured a bronze medal in the World Judo Championship 2019 in Tokyo, Japan.
