Steve Backshall Sister, Jo Backshall’s unwavering support has helped mold the successful career of the British naturalist and explorer.
Steve Backshall is a British naturalist, writer, and presenter who has established a considerable reputation for himself in the field of wildlife conservation. The TV presenter was born on the 21st of April 1973, and he is best recognized for his work on wildlife documentaries, including “Deadly 60” and “Blue Planet Live.”
The MBE explorer also contributed to the BBC’s work, being a member of the expedition teams in Deadly Dinosaurs, Lost Land of the Volcano, and Lost Land of the Tiger.
Further, he has worked for several famous wildlife channels, including the National Geographic Channel and the Discover Channel. In addition, he was a renowned naturalist starring for the Dave Channel in a TV nature adventure documentary widely known as ” Expedition with Steve Backshall.”
He was awarded the British Academy Film Awards twice, Best Factual Series, Best Children’s Television Presenter, and SES Explorer of the Year for his works and contributions. Because of his selfless assistance to charity and wildlife conservation, he was honored with the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in the New Year Honours of 2020.

The 51 years old as in2024, the naturalist was very fond of animals and wildlife from a very young age. Likewise, Steve Backshall Sister, Jo Backshall, was more fascinated with domestic animals like horses.
The TV presenter grew up surrounded by rescue animals at a smallholding in Bagshot with his sister. Further, he went on to become a respected naturalist and wildlife presenter with a passion for traveling the world and preserving endangered species of animals.
Talking about his sister, Jo selflessly worked her whole life treating and caring for young Cancer patients. She was the source of inspiration for him as he would see his sister always working so hard.
In addition, the presenter’s sister was very supportive and always motivated his brother to pursue becoming a wildlife explorer and naturalist. M careeroreover, both siblings are the pride of their nation as they contribute a lot to social work. Also, the Scout Birthday Badge Awards honored Steve with the Animal Carer Badge in 2012.

Meet Steve Backshall Parents: Dave Backshall And Patricia Backshall
The famous naturalist was born to his Father, Dave Backshall, and his mother, Patricia Backshall, in Bagshot, Surrey, England, where he also completed his sixth form at Brooklands College.
As per some online portals, the Explorer parents were British Airways employees. His parents were lovers of the outdoors and nature, which undoubtedly influenced him to learn about the wonders of nature.
As they worked for airlines, they often got opportunities to travel to different parts of the world. When Steve was only eight years old, he got to explore nature’s wonders, traveling to the best places in the world.
Since he traveled from a very young age, it gave him a huge advantage in his career, and he was not even scared to attempt traveling alone in the western half of New Guinea in 1997.
Moreover, he is very much thankful for his parents as they were the ones who encouraged and developed a passion for wildlife and nature. Further, his passion benefitted wildlife as he raised £360,000 in 2017 for the World Land Trust.
