Suella Braverman, a British lawyer and politician served as home secretary from September to October 2022. On October 19, 2022, Braverman announced his resignation as home secretary due to an impending political crisis.

The now-former home secretary confessed she had broken government security regulations in her resignation letter to the PM on Wednesday, writing: “I have made a mistake; I accept responsibility; I quit.”

After being appointed, Mr. Shapps acknowledged the “turbulent time for the government” in a speech outside the Home Office.

He said he is looking forward to starting his new position “regardless of what’s occurring otherwise in Westminster.”
