Kunle Afolayan was born on September 30, 1975, in Ebute Metta, Lagos, Lagos State, Nigeria. He is the son of Ade Love, a well-known theatre and film director. The Afolayan family is of Igbomina-Yoruba descent from Kwara State.

The actor has two brothers, Aremu Afolayan and Gabriel Afolayan, and a sister, Moji Afolayan. Kunle Afolayan’s brothers and sister are also in the entertainment industry and have accomplished considerable success.

Kunle Afolayan’s elder sister, Moji, has acting credits and some producing and directing credits. She is married to a Nigerian star, Ojopagogo. In 2016, Moji appeared in the Yoruba movie Arinjo and her husband and Dele Odule.

Tolu Afolyan was Kunle Afolayan wife from 2007 to 2019. Kunle Afolyyan and his ex-wife tied the knot in 2007. 

The former couple welcomed four children together. They are two daughters, Eyiyemi and Darasimi, and two sons, Diekoloreoluwa David Afolayan and Darimisire Afolayan.
