From 1981 to 1983, she swept all three 500m disciplines (K1, K2, and K4) in the three consecutive World Championships.

However, the athlete was unable to defend her Olympic title in 1984 in Los Angeles. As a result of the Eastern Bloc countries’ boycott.

Fischer made a comeback in Seoul in 1988. Moreover, the German Kayaker also managed to win the gold medal in the K2 event the same day.
