Blerand Hoxha’s Attack On Soccer Coach

According to Prince William County police, Blerand Hoxha was arrested for attacking a soccer coach on August 26, 2023, near Manassas’ George Hellwig Memorial Park around 2 p.m.

46-year-old Vince Villanueva, the soccer coach who was knocked unconscious, was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Villanueva said he was not sure why he was attacked. All he knew was that the team was losing quite badly.

He said he was substituting for a friend that day during the boys’ team scrimmage with the Northern Virginia Soccer Club.

Coach Vince recalled Hoxah requesting to talk to him, and things deteriorated.

Blerand Hoxah repeatedly struck the coach’s head with a metal water bottle. After the attack, he fled the scene on foot.

Luckily, several off-duty police at the park helped diffuse the situation while some helped gather the children to a secure area.

While police searched nearby areas, they found and took Hoxah into custody. The reasons behind Hoxah’s attack on the coach are unclear. He was charged and arrested with malicious wounding.

Coach Vince noted that he had never seen or heard of Blerand Hoxah before the incident. This raises more questions regarding Hoxah’s actions.

He also stated that he had never been in such a situation in his career as a soccer coach, which he started when he was 18.
