Elvis Actress Shonka Dukureh Husband Semabala Dukureh; Family Kids And Death Cause

Actress Shonka Dukureh left behind her husband and two kids on Thursday, July 21, 2022.

Shonka Dukureh, who made her Hollywood debut in the upcoming Baz Luhrmann film “Elvis” as the renowned blues singer Big Mama Thornton, was discovered dead on Thursday in Nashville.

She gained international fame due to her persona, Big Mama Thronton. She had only recently started her acting career in 2022.

Shonka Dukureh Death Cause: What Happened?

Shonka Dukureh, a blues singer, died from hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

The coroner determined that her death was “natural,” according to records that Us Weekly received on Monday.

The 44 years old young singer left behind her two children.

Dukureh’s body was discovered on July 21 in the bedroom of the Nashville residence she and her two kids lived.

According to The Tennessean, Dukureh’s son, the older of her two children, discovered her lifeless before fleeing to a neighbor’s house and dialing 911 at around 9:30 am.

No suspicion of wrongdoing was provided by a Metro Nashville Police Department official.

A Dukureh representative didn’t answer Page Six’s request for comment right away.

The vocalist gained fame for her performance as Big Mama Thornton in the film “Elvis,” which chronicles the life of Elvis Presley. According to IMDb, the film, which had its debut on June 24 and starred Austin Butler, was her sole acting credit.

Prior to her passing, Dukureh excitedly shared on Instagram about her part in the film and the chance she had to perform Presley’s iconic song “Hound Dog.”

Shonka Dukureh Husband: Who Is Semabala Dukureh?

Shonka Dukureh had a husband named Semabala Dukureh.

However, she had been separated from her spouse for the previous eleven years. She filed for divorce from her husband on May 18, 2011.

She had not revealed personal information regarding her husband and married life.

The reason behind their divorce is also currently not available.

However, it may be assumed that their marriage had problems, which ultimately caused their divorce. The accomplished musician and actress listed her status as “single” on Facebook. She didn’t date anyone as a result after divorcing her husband.

Shonka Dukureh Children And Family Details

Shonka Dukureh gave birth to two beautiful children, a son, and a daughter, after marrying Semabala Dukureh.

Her children, according to reports, are under the age of 14. In a post from June 2022 on her Instagram, she had once showcased both of them.

Her daughter’s name is Naiya, and she hadn’t revealed the name of her son.

However, their exact age and education details have been kept under the curtains.

According to the police, her kids had discovered her unconscious and rushed to call 911.

Now she has left behind her two beautiful children.

Shonka Dukureh Career 

Before beginning a career as a Gospel singer and actor, Shonka Dukureh worked as a teacher. 

Being a teacher was her first passion. She had previously taught second grade at Metro School’s Buena Vista Elementary School. After school, she used to work a variety of jobs in the city. 

Shonka was unable to fulfill her dream of becoming an entertainer while she was working as a school teacher. She thus debuted in 2022 as a singer and actress. 

She made two movie appearances in 2022. “Doja cat: vegas and Elvis” is the name of her two movies. In her “Elvis” movie, she also sang the song “Hound Dog.”

She was a successful lead actress in numerous plays and musicals that traveled the globe over the years. 

Dukureh received favorable reviews for her performance in Marcus Hummon’s American Duet, for which she was nominated in 2003 for the Tennessean Theatre Award.
