She apologized on social media, writing that she called Kwasi Kwarteng to offer her honest and heartfelt apologies for the comments she made during yesterday’s Labour convention fringe meeting.

In addition, her comments were poorly timed, and she sincerely apologizes to everyone impacted.

Before Ms. Huq was suspended, Jake Berry, the chairman of the Conservative Party, denounced her “vile” remarks and urged Sir Keir Starmer, the leader of the Labour Party, to revoke the whip.

The deputy leader of Labour, Angela Rayner, instructed Ms. Huq to apologize and take “prompt action” over the incident.
