Memphis Shooting: Who Is Ezekiel Kelly? Arrest Charge And Facebook Video Update

Memphis Police confirm that Kelly was connected to a shooting Wednesday afternoon at an AutoZone on Jackson near Wells. According to court records, February 3, 2020, incident led to Ezekiel Kelly, then 19 years old, being charged with first-degree attempted murder. 

He was also accused of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, employment of a firearm with the intent to conduct a severe offense, and aggravated assault.

Memphis Shooting: Who Is Ezekiel Kelly? 

According to Memphis police, a 19-year-old guy was detained following many shootings after a live-streamed video of someone shooting a man inside an auto parts business surfaced online.

After many shootings sparked a citywide warning, the suspect, named by police as Ezekiel D. Kelly, is now in custody, Memphis police announced Wednesday night on Twitter. According to court documents, he has been accused of first-degree murder.

According to local media, in Whitehaven, a town in the south Memphis region, Kelly crashed a Dodge Challenger and was injured. Police then cornered Kelly.

Arrest Charge And Facebook Video Update

A man seemed to enter an auto-parts business, point a gun at another man, and Fire the trigger in a Facebook live video that has since been removed. 

The man claimed to have shot five individuals in The Post’s footage.

A source gave FOX13 a photo of 19-year-old Ezekiel Kelly moments after he was captured in connection to a shooting spree across the Mid-South.

Police then accused Kelly of stealing a Dodge Challenger in Southaven, Mississippi, before a confrontation at Ivan Road and Hodge Road in Memphis. Police surrounded the car as he resisted being let out of it. To help, the SWAT Team was also contacted.

Around 9:20 pm, Memphis Police said Kelly was apprehended with the aid of Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies. After he was arrested, the shelter-in-place warning was rescinded.

There were two shootings in South Memphis before the alarm was sent out. Around 4:35 pm, a man was slain in a shooting at South Parkway East. A woman was hurt in a second incident on Norris Road close to I-240 a minute later.
