Fuoco wrote that Gee’s passing grieved her family but that her sister had been dedicated to her work on a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for relatives and friends to fly to Gee’s funeral.

Nicole Gee was married to her husband Jarod Gee. 

Nicole had traveled across the country to live with her husband, who was stationed at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina, by the time her mother passed away. Nicole had also enlisted in the Marine Corps.

Misty reported that Nicole’s final texts were all about her 25-year-old Marine spouse Jarod Gee, her husband of four years, who was in Citrus Heights at the time of the suicide bombing.

Sgt. Gee served in the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit of the United States Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. Sgt. 23-year-old Gee was one of the 13 military personnel murdered in the August attack on the Kabul airport.

Gee uploaded a picture of herself in uniform cuddling a child in Kabul to Instagram just a few days before she passed away, writing the message, “I adore my job.” Gee served in the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit as a maintenance technician.
