Born on January 17, 1994, Ricarda Lang is a German politician who became a co-leader of the Alliance 90/The Greens in January 2022 alongside Omid Nouripour.

Ricarda grew up with her single mother, a social worker at a women’s shelter. Unfortunately, her father, the sculptor Eckhart Dietz, passed away on January 2, 2019, at the age of 86.

As for her education, initially, she studied at Heidelberg University, but later she switched to Humboldt University of Berlin. However, she decided to leave her studies in 2019 without completing her degree.

When Ricarda was just 18 years old in 2012, she became a part of the Green Youth and was also involved in the leadership of the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg Greens from 2015 to 2016.

In October 2015, she joined the federal board of the Green Youth, and by October 2017, she was chosen as co-spokesperson during a federal congress. In November 2019, she was elected as deputy chairwoman of the Greens and took on the role of spokesperson for women’s policy.

Two years later, in the 2021 German federal election, Ricarda Lang successfully ran for the Bundestag, securing the tenth spot on the Baden-Württemberg list. Then, on January 29, 2022, she was elected as the chairwoman of the Greens along with Omid Nouripour.

Now, she is known for representing the party’s left wing, with her primary focus areas being social justice and climate policy issues. She also advocates for feminism, body positivity, and LGBTQ+ politics.

According to his website, Ricarda Lang partner, Florian Wilsch, is a devoted mathematician working on arithmetic geometry and number theory.

Florian graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in 2013. Looking to further his education, he continued his studies at the same university, later earning a Master of Science degree in 2015.

In 2019, he completed his Doctor of Natural Sciences PhD from Leibniz University Hannover.

As for his work experience, Florian seems to have worked as a postdoc at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria from October  2019 to September 2022.

After that, he began to work as a postdoc at Leibniz University Hannover for the Institute of Algebra, Number Theory, and Discrete Mathematics, and he has been working there ever since.
