This 52-year-old’s parents had emigrated to Canada in the 1960s after the riots in Hong Kong. Along with that, Ken was born and raised with his sibling.

Ken Sim’s parents are role models in his life. Ken’s Father’s name is Francis Sim; however, he has not mentioned his mother’s name. He is available on Instagram with a @kensimcity username and has posted about his parents.

They were an immigrant from Hongkong, China, during the 1960s when there was a dispute. Similarly, in 1970, his parents gave birth to him in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada making him a Canadian national.

On the other hand, his parent’s nationality is Chinese, and their ethnicity remains unknown. 

On the occasion of world refugee day, he posted his parent’s captioning, “While I was lucky to grow up in Vancouver, those stories have informed the way I understand how refugees feel.” He wrote this after his parents had to move from Hongkong due to the riots.

Also, last year in March, he shared a picture of his Father, mentioning he had turned 91 a few days ago and taught him to be a good Father and entrepreneur. Along with that, he misses him every day.

Not only that, on International Women’s Day 2021, he shared the picture of his mother, sister, and wife by mentioning them as inspirational women in his life.

Vancouver Election: Is Ken Sim Conservative?

Ken Sim won as a mayor in 2022, running from the ABC Party. He served for the next four years alongside ten councilors defeating 14 other candidates, including Kennedy Stewart. He is not associated with the Conservative Party.

Not only that, The Party offers a fairly status quo agenda on housing, focusing on the crime and faster permitting.

Similarly, Sim had previously run for the mayor position of the Non-Partisan Association in the 2018 Vancouver municipal election. During that time, he lost to Kennedy Stewart by 977 votes and decided to run again soon after.
