Grace Rached, an Australian woman, was killed during Halloween festivities in South Korea.
According to a spokesman for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Australian embassy in the South Korean capital of Seoul was notified of the “tragic” incident on Sunday night.
Officials in Australia confirmed that one Australian died in the weekend tragedy in Seoul’s Itaewon district, which killed more than 150 people.

Witnesses reported that some people were bleeding from their noses and mouths while receiving CPR, while others dressed in Halloween costumes continued to sing and dance nearby, possibly unaware of the seriousness of the situation.
Who Was Grace Rached?
Grace Rached, a young Sydney film production assistant, has been identified as the Australian victim of a fatal Halloween crowd crush in South Korea.
Grace has been described as a “kind-hearted” person with a passion for filmmaking.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Rached was a production assistant at Singapore-based film and media company ElectricLime.
She’d been with the company for 15 months, had previously worked at smaller production companies, and had volunteered at the Tropfest short film festival in Sydney.
She had completed a Bachelor of Communications and International Studies at the University of Technology in Sydney.
Rached described herself as a “sucker for Formula One” and said she liked fantasy films like Lord of the Rings and Marvel films.
Friend Silvio Cohiji, who met Rached at university, said she had a bright future in film.

Grace Rached Was Killed: What Happened To Her?
A spokesperson for the NSW Department of Education told AAP that they were deeply saddened to learn of the tragic death of the 23-year-old, a former student of Canterbury Girls High in Sydney’s southwest.
Nathan Taverniti, a friend of the young filmmaker from Sydney, was among the 100,000-strong crowd.
He described the scene on his personal TikTok page, saying he was forced to crawl to escape the “slow and agonizing crush” before desperately searching for Rached’s body.
Taverniti revealed in the video that her 24th birthday was coming up in 12 days and that he was present when she said she couldn’t breathe.
Nathan said one of his friends was killed in the crowd crush, and two others were critically injured.
Two of Rached’s friends are being treated in intensive care as a result of the crowd crush that killed more than 150 people in Itaewon, Seoul, on Saturday night.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed the death of an Australian in Seoul on Saturday night, and consular officials are assisting the victim’s family.
A sobbing Mr. Taverniti revealed on TikTok that there was no stampede and that it was a painfully slow crush.
He went on to say that the crush was not caused by drunk people but by a lack of planning, Police, and emergency services.
According to witnesses, the streets were so congested with people and slow-moving vehicles that it was nearly impossible for emergency personnel and ambulances to reach the alley quickly.
Tributes For Grace Rached On Social Media
On social media, tributes to Rached have begun to pour in, with her former employer, Electriclime Films Executive producer Shahn Devendran, describing her as a “kind-hearted” individual.
He revealed that Grace was a fun, friendly, kind-hearted, and passionate person who loved to make films and make people laugh. He expressed his sorrow, saying that she will be missed by her many family and friends, as well as her family at Electriclime Films.
The spokesperson for the NSW Department of Education expressed heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the student’s family and the entire school community. He said the school would offer counseling and support to all other affected students and staff.
