He expressed his readiness to advance to the next phase of his career on his official social media accounts, saying that he was grateful for his experiences as a reporter and meteorologist.

On January 15, Melser finished his final day of broadcasting for WBAL-TV. He did his final weathercast with the help of his family and coworkers.

This is not, however, a farewell to Baltimore. Melser accepted a new position working for the city so that he would stay in the Greater Baltimore Area.

He will start his new job as Baltimore County’s Department of Public Works’ chief public information officer.

He will use his meteorology skills on the job as well.
