Olivia Rodrigo releases her debut album ‘Sour’

Singer Olivia Rodrigo released her debut album ‘Sour‘ at Friday midnight ET. The album is currently available on all the music streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.

The album contains 11 tracks and is 34 minutes long. Previously, Olivia Rodrigo released three singles from the album, namely Driver’s License, Deja Vu, and Good 4 U.

Driver’s License debuted on top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart and has been the reason for Olivia’s fame.

The singer and High School Musical star had been anticipating the release of her album for a long time. After the release, she tweeted, “my debut album SOUR is out now!!!!”

Olivia mentioned that the release of her album is “a dream come true” and that she “can not wait for the fans to hear it.”

Olivia previously released three singles from the album

Fans had already heard three of Olivia’s singles from the album. Her debut single “Driver’s License” debuted #1 on Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it one of the biggest hits of 2021.

Music fans around the world downloaded the song over 16,000 times. Additionally, the song received more than 21 million streams on different platforms. It was released on January 8, 2021.

The song also broke the record for most one-day non-holiday streams on Spotify. Moreover, fans worldwide loved the song, and it was the most popular among TikTok users.

Likewise, Olivia Rodrigo released another single, ‘Deja Vu’ on April 1, 2021, as the second single from the album. Although the single could not smash any records, fans definitely loved it and gave it positive ratings.

However, the song topped charts in many countries, including Belgium, Canada, and Australia.

Only days before the album release, on May 14, Olivia released another single from Sour, Good 4 U. On May 10, 2021, Olivia announced the release of the song and music video over social media. The song topped the second position on the Australian music sales chart.

SOUR is a break-up album

As her debut single indicated, her new album is a heartbreaking album filled with melancholy and mischief.

In addition, the album mostly revolves around failed romance. Olivia mentions that Sour is a collection of all the feelings that “are not socially acceptable for girls: anger and jealousy.”

Moreover, Olivia Rodrigo has shown her vulnerable side through this album.

Likewise, the album has topped the US iTunes chart. Various critics have projected that the album will be selling over 500,000 total units in the United States by the first week of its release.

Likewise, Rodrigo, Nigro, and Casey Smith have written her other  track, “Jealousy, Jealousy.”
