Family

Keith Thurman was born in Clearwater of Florida, on the 23rd of November 1998. His father’s name is Keith Thurman Sr. and his mother’s name is Debra Thorsen.

Keith grew up in a mix of cultures because his father is African-American and his mother is of European ethnicity. Keith likes to call himself mixed black in terms of ethnicity.

But he has American citizenship. He likes to term himself as Christian-Buddhist.

Keith also has two other siblings; a brother and a sister. However, their names are not available to the public, and he does not post about them much.

Keith successfully defeated the undefeated Jamaican boxer Omar Bell with an uppercut and a left hand on August 8, 2008. He has fought and won against boxers such as Francisco Garcia, Stalin Lopez, and so on.

Keith soon was called invincible and had nineteen victories under his name by the year 2012. He defeated Carlos Quintana and won the WBO-NABO junior middleweight title, and moved to another weight category.

Defeat against Manny Pacquiao

Keith then decided on his next opponent while on a trip to Japan. He publicly called out WBA Titlist Manny Pacquiao, who had just recently won the title against Adrien Broner.

The world’s second-best boxer Terence Crawford also supported the fight’s announcement, saying he wanted to see Thurman move on to bigger platforms.

The match was announced in May of 2019 by the organizers.

Keith wanted to retain the Title of WBA Super Welterweight against Manny. When the match took place on July 20th of 2019, it easily became one of the most-watched boxing matches in history.

Manny successfully landed more punches in the match and harshly defeated Keith Thurman.

According to BoxRec’s official stats, this was Thurman’s first loss which also cost him his title. He asked for a rematch against Manny, but that is highly unlikely to happen.
